The best US presidential election coverage online

With the United States presidential election underway, there are plenty of web-based resources to help you find out what’s going on.

Here are some sites you should check out throughout the morning:

• FiveThirtyEight. Nate Silver runs The New York Times’ election blog, and it’s a great way to check in with what the polls are saying. This is the best place for in-depth analysis of the polls and is more likely to be accurate than most websites.

• USA Today’s politics page. Not the flashiest but it’ll give you up-to-date results tomorrow.

• YouTube’s politics page. Any official video related to the election will show up here.

• The Washington Post. Will have up-to-date coverage tomorrow, so be sure to keep updating.

• Twitter. If you have Twitter, get a client like Tweetdeck and then monitor the results as they come. This is the first election in which Twitter will have mainstream usage, so be sure to track what’s happening and be up to speed.
