Here’s one for the nerds, god love ‘em. All those long nights of labouring anonymously on code for open sources programs such as Linux could be about to receive some recognition thanks to a new site called Ohloh.

According to VentureBeat, Ohloh is a company that ranks top open source coders, tracking their activity and analysing the extent and quality of their work. They then give a “KudoRank” to each coder, ranging from 1 (poor) to 10 (pretty darn hot).

The site can also be used by open source development businesses to track and rank performance of staff.

Ohloh also encourages coders to provide feedback, for example informing Ohloh when they may be working on two different projects under different aliases. That way, Ohloh can rate them as one person, and rank them accurately against 70,000 other individuals in its database.
