Apple’s wearable device, set to be released alongside the latest iPhone this week, will run third-party applications, and may come equipped with an App Store, sources have told 9to5mac.

 

It’s not clear if the App Store will be fully fledged, or its own special section of the iPhone App store with apps that suit the new device.

 

A small number of high profile social network and service companies, with apps on the iPhone and iPad apps have been given a pre-release version of the Apple Software Development Kit for wearables under non-disclosure agreements.

Netflix considering short-form videos

 

In an effort to increase mobile usage, video streaming site Netflix is considering adding  two to five minute videos to its catalogue to cater to its growing number of mobile users.

 

The videos will be made up of key scenes from TV shows, short clips from movies and little bits from comedy stand-up specials, all of which can be sourced from Netflix current archive.

 

Galaxy Gear VR headset will cost US$199

 

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Gear headset will cost US$199, VentureBeat reports.

 

Last week Samsung unveiled the headset which has been made in partnership with Oculus VR. The device uses Samsung’s Note 4 Phablet as a screen and will be released later this year.
