Tech giant Apple has admitted some children aged under the legal requirement for working have been employed at some of its factories in China.

The company did not name the factories, or the operators, but said it had rectified the situation already.

“In each of the three facilities, we required a review of all employment records for the year, as well as a complete analysis of the hiring process to clarify how underage people had been able to gain employment.”

But it isn’t the first time the company’s Chinese factories have caused PR problems. Last week it emerged a number of workers were exposed to a toxic chemical which can cause muscular degeneration.

Additionally, last year an employee at a Taiwan-based company which supplies parts to Apple committed suicide after he was accused of stealing a prototype iPhone.
