Software maker Mozilla has released an early version of the Firefox browser for mobile, called Fennec, intended for users to try out and then report back with problems.
Mozilla developer Vladimir Vukicevic has said on the company’s site that the builds are in a “pre-alpha” stage, otherwise known as an extremely early stage of testing during which many bugs are likely to occur.
As such, he said that “bugs might cause your phone to stop responding, requiring a reboot.” He mentioned the software has only been tested on Droid and Nexus One handsets, but users can also install the browser on some HTC and Motorola handsets.
The company has said there is currently no plan to develop a browser from the Apple iPhone. It is understood that by doing so, it would restrict certain features from being used.
