The New South Wales government will save $237 million over the next two years due to a review of its IT spending practices.
About $31 million will be replaced into an investment pool, treasury deputy secretary Stephen Brady told The Australia. That fund will be used to improve the efficiency of existing IT projects.
The state’s budget also identifies 15% in cost savings from 2011-12, while the second stage of a systematic review is also set to identify key areas where savings can be achieved.
“The second phase has commenced and includes the identification of efficiencies to meet savings targets of a further 10% in 2011-12,” the budget reportedly stated.
