Computer manufacturing group Acer has said it still believes netbooks are selling, and that it will release new models soon.
The move comes after various analysts have pointed out the growing tablet market is stealing market share away from netbooks.
“Tablets have impacted overall netbook sales, but we’re not stepping away from the [netbook] segment,” senior product marketing and brand manager Eric Ackerson said in a Forbes interview.
“We think there’s still opportunity for sales, including in the U.S.”
Another Acer spokesperson said the death of netbooks is “overstated”, and that the gadgets are still doing well although not at the same high growth points as they were previously.
