Google is preparing to launch a new music store that will accompany its beta service and compete with iTunes, a new report has suggested.
According to Business Insider, an independent record label has said the company is “eager” to open the store and that it would work with Google’s existing cloud-based music service.
The report states that the store will launch in the fourth quarter of the year, with major titles being released first, along with more niche music.
This comes after a separate report from the New York Times which claims that Google is now finalising deals with music labels and that the store will be launched within the next few months.
