Therese Rein, the owner of international recruitment company Ingeus and wife of Labor leader Kevin Rudd, has started the sell-off of the Australian arm of her business.

Debate raged earlier this year over whether Rein should sell part of her business, which gets a large part of its work from Federal Government contracts, to avoid a potential conflict of interest should Labor win the next election and her husband become Prime Minister.

In May Rein announced that she would sell the Australian part of her business, an announcement that became reality today with the sale of the Clements recruitment company to Sydney company Bluestone Personnel.

Although details of the deal are commercial in confidence, Rein says the proceeds of the sale will be reinvested into the growth of Ingeus internationally.

Rein says the sale Ingeus’ other Australian based business, WorkDirections Australia, is in process and ongoing.
