Revenue from Vodafone’s Australian subsidiary has dropped 16% in the last three months of 2012 as the business lost tens of thousands of customers.

Accounts from Vodafone’s European-based company indicated the brand’s Australian customers fell to 3.1 million at the end of 2012 as 64,000 people walked away from the brand.

These losses follow on from the September quarter where Vodafone lost 77,000 customers and revenue dropped 14.4%.

Federal Court orders $50,000 for butcher’s claim meat was from King Island

A Victorian butcher has been ordered by the Federal Court to pay a $50,000 penalty after making false or misleading representations the meat offered for sale through its Brighton shop was from King Island, when in reality very little of the meat was from King Island.

Justice Murphy found King Island Meatworks & Cellars Pty Ltd had made various references to ‘King Island’ in its product branding including its logo, internet domain name and on signs outside its store.
The butcher had also published newspaper advertisements referring to King Island.

Australian shares open flat

Australian shares opened flat for the second day in a row following a drop in the Dow Jones Industrial Average by 0.3% overnight.

The S&P/ASX200 benchmark was up 12 points at midday to 4947.7.

The majority of industries were up with the healthcare and energy sectors doing particularly well.
