Apple intends to end its five-year partnership with Google Maps next week, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal.

The move threatens to remove a large share of the digital mapping service’s 150 million users from Google, hurting countless businesses that use the software to advertise.

It is believed that rather than using Google’s software, iPhones and iPads will now use new software created by Apple itself.

The report comes just days after Google announced numerous improvements to Google Maps, including 3D mapping for some cities.

Apple is yet to officially comment.
