German supermarket chain Aldi will open four stores in Western Australia in early June, in the retailer’s first foray into the WA market.

The four stores will be located in Mirrbooka Square, Kwinana, Belmont and Lakeside Joondalup and will commence trading on June 8. The supermarket chain has also built a distribution centre at Jandakort Airport, which will receive stock from next month.

In a statement this morning, Aldi said the June store openings are the first step in its expansion into WA, with 20 stores to open by the end of this year.

In the longer term, Aldi says it wants to open up to 70 outlets in WA, which it says will create 1200 jobs.

Among the confirmed locations for Aldi stores in WA are Armadale, Australind, Butler, Camillo, Cannington, Ellenbrook, Halls Head, Harrisdale, Haynes, Lakelands, Maddington, Mandurah, Mundaring, Nedlands, Rockingham, Secret Harbour, South Lake, Southern River, Waikiki and Wattle Grove.
