Although rock legend band AC/DC are still at it with a new record, they’re refusing to jump on the internet bandwagon by denying sales of the band’s new album via iTunes.

Although rock legend band AC/DC are still at it with a new record, they’re refusing to jump on the internet bandwagon by denying sales of the band’s new album via iTunes.

The band says the decision is based on a conscious effort to avoid the internet’s emphasis on downloading individual tracks, rather than entire albums.

“Maybe I’m just being old-fashioned, but this iTunes, God bless ’em, it’s going to kill music if they’re not careful,” lead singer Brian Johnson tells news.com.au.

AC/DC instead sells its music online through Verizon’s music store. But the catch is that fans can only purchase full albums, not singles.

These strategies have prevented fans cherry-picking their favourite AC/DC tracks – if you want the big hits, you have to buy multiple albums.

“It just worries me,” Johnson says of the iTunes model. “And I’m sure they’re just doing it all in the interest of making as much… cash as possible. Let’s put it this way, it’s certainly not for the… love, let’s get that out of the way, right away.”
