Savvy small businesses now have another opportunity to stick in the minds of their customers, thanks to the latest feature to be added to Google Maps.
Unveiled last Tuesday, Google now allows users to save their favourite locations, such as bars or restaurants, and load them into lists stored within the Google Maps smartphone app.
These lists can then be shared across a plethora of different social mediums. Users could email their boss a list of hot lunch spots, or text their friends a selection of great bars. Users can even follow other lists to receive updates whenever a new location is added.
In a blog post, Google outlined the new features and how users will be able to make the most of them.
“With the millions of landmarks, businesses and other points of interest in Google Maps, there’s no shortage of places to try,” the company says.
“Now that we’ve got the world mapped, it’s your turn to map your world with Lists—from local hotspots to bucket list destinations worlds away.”
This is the latest in a series of features recently added to Google Maps, along with a feature that allows users to see how busy businesses are in real time.
Landing your business a spot on a well-shared Google Maps list could boost your businesses exposure and help you get more customers through your door.
You may even choose to create your own Google Maps list and share it with customers across social channels. Include your business, along with any others in the area you’re fond of, and encourage your customers to share it or add their own suggestions.
Of course, all the tactics in the world won’t help your business if it’s not listed correctly on Google, or your website isn’t being properly indexed.
