The type of PR you want for your business depends greatly on the industry in which you’re operating. Like marketing, you need to know your audience extremely well and use PR to target those demographics.

 

You need to decide on your PR strategy as soon as you start your business. Do you want to promote new products, or instead promote your own market research?

 

Most companies usually promote the following topics through press releases – new products, significant employment news, research, partnerships, investment and internal business news, like acquisitions and mergers.

 

Think about where you want to pitch PR material – will your press releases be attractive to a major metropolitan newspaper, or would it more appropriate for an industry trade publication?

 

Anything you believe can improve your reputation and help get your business in the minds of consumers is something you should be using as PR.
