The mobile service of around 120,000 Kogan customers is up in limbo and a further 130,000 Aldi/Medion customers nearly met a similar fate after Telstra reseller ispONE went into voluntary administration.
Telstra is preventing Kogan customers from recharging their prepaid services, with balances set to expire after 30 days.
After their credit expires, the customers will be moved on to a special seven day plan where they will be limited to 20 voice call minutes and 20 SMS messages per day before all outbound calls are blocked for six months.
“You will not be able to recharge, so if you lose your outbound service, we advise you to transfer your service to another provider immediately,” Telstra states.
New ABS figures on the value of retail sales
The Australian Bureau of Statistics has for the first time revealed the amount Australians spend per year on goods worth less than $1000 from overseas websites.
According to the figures, Australians spent around $6.23 billion on goods below the threshold.
Australians spent an additional $4.55 billion with domestic retailers during the same period, meaning online retailing is worth at least $10 billion per year as an industry.
Coca-Cola Amatil says Carling’s the real thing, buys its next round of beer market investments
Beverage giant Coca-Cola Amatil has struck a deal with Molson Coors to distribute a range of specialty beers in Australia.
The deal will see CCA distribute Carling, Coors Light, Caffrey’s and craft beer Blue Moon in Australia.
