Board director fees rose 3.8% on average in 2012, according to new analysis of the latest company disclosures by remuneration experts Guerdon Associates.
That’s less than they rose in 2011 (5.1%), and far lower than the rise in CEO pay for 2012 (7.7% on average).
It takes the average fee paid to an ASX300 director to $154,000, which includes cash payments, superannuation and share-based payments.
Guerdon’s data surveyed what was paid to 762 directors and chairmen in the ASX300 who had been in their roles for the past two financial years.
The largest increases were in energy and telco and IT companies (5.2% on average), while directors in healthcare and utilities companies barely got a raise at all.
