Franchised Food Company has launched a new drive-through coffee business, Europa Coffee, adding to its stable of snack food franchises.
Opening today with a venue on busy Kings Way in South Melbourne, Europa Coffee will enable customers to drive through and buy a take-away coffee, as well as sandwiches, toasties and snack-food treats.
Franchised Food Company chief executive Stan Gordon told SmartCompany this morning that he was approached by the landlord of the location, who was looking for a new business to launch in the venue.
“We like the idea of a coffee drive-through,” he says. “They are getting really popular nationally…people are time poor.”
Gordon says the location was previously tenanted by a coffee business called Bella Barista. He explained that Europa Coffee will be a “pilot venture” for the company, after which he intends to open franchises for it nationally.
Other businesses operating drive-through coffee locations in Australia include Muzz Buzz and Coffee Club, which recently launched its first drive-through venue in Tingalpa, Brisbane.
Gordon says the food offer for Europa Coffee, which he calls “dashboard food”, will include items from the group’s other franchise operations, adjusted seasonally.
Franchised Food Company already operates Cold Rock Ice Creamery, Pretzel World, Nutshack and Mr Whippy. In September this year it also acquired Trampoline Gelato from Burra Foods Australia with a view to rolling out more stores nationally.
Franchised Food Company was founded by Gordon in 2009, and now has an estimated 180 stores across Australia in its franchise model.
