Former Australian Industry Group head Heather Ridout will soon add another board position to the CV after being appointed a non-executive director of the Australian Securities Exchange.
Ridout will replace Jillian Broadbent on the board, who steps down in order to focus on her role as chair of the Government’s Clean Energy Fund.
Ridout is also a board member of the Reserve Bank of Australia.
In a statement, ASX chairman Rick Holliday-Smith praised Ridout’s understanding of Australian businesses and welcomed her expertise given the “determination that ASX should remain a leading market on which to list and raise capital”.
He added Ridout’s expertise in public policy debates would benefit the board as it navigates changes in financial market structure and regulation.
Holliday-Smith also suggested there would be further changes to the board, amid growing pressure for the ASX to consider stronger links with exchanges in the Asian region.
