Google-owned video uploading and distributing site YouTube will begin to stream full length television episodes in a change of strategy.
In a deal with CBS, the site will show full length episodes complete with pre, mid and post-roll advertisements. The move comes after YouTube has extended its video uploading limits, which previously have been capped at 10 minutes.
“This is about giving the community what they want,” YouTube’s director of content partnerships, Jordan Hoffner told Adweek. “Plus, we’re not blind to the growth of long form on other sites.”
The episodes will appear in both long-form and wide-screen formats.
