Leisure time
In his spare time Gordon likes to play golf and motocross.
“I also like toys. I’m not a serious person, Life is too serious. I drink too much, I eat too much and I party too much. I like watching sport but I don’t like exercising, I’m really an old fat guy who likes to party,” he says.
“I have a very supportive wife and family and without their support I couldn’t have done what I have. My wife has been around for a long time and she has fun with me. She relates to the craziness and beauty of what we do.”
Future
Currently, Gordon is considering two more acquisitions. One he feels assured will come off, the other he’s less convinced about.
“It’s a 30-40 store chain and it’s the same store, we approached them. We’re growing the existing brands into slightly different markets and looking at dessert offerings as a food group.
“I’m looking for the next big thing; and the next big thing, what it is, I don’t know yet. I’ve travelled overseas, but I haven’t seen the next really wild thing. So we’ll have to try not to sit back on our bums and actually do something different.”
Gordon says, for now at least, pizza and hamburgers remain off the menu.
“It’s not McDonald’s. But it is an indulgent treat, snack type of food. It won’t make you thin, but it’s enjoyable.”
