While Apple is continuing to sell millions of its iPhone device, T-Mobile and Google have now experienced success with their release of the G1, which has now recorded one million sales in six months.

The figures, which were released by Deutsche Telekom in its earnings conference call with analysts, show that T-Mobile G1 has sold over one million units since its September release.

The phone, which boasts a 3.2-inch touch screen, a full qwerty keyboard, wi-fi, Bluetooth and GPS capabilities, comes pre-loaded with the open-source Google Android operating system.

It was uncertain how successful the phone would be due to the untested nature of the relatively new Google operating system.

But the phone has been so successful that manufacturers such as Samsung, Motorola and Sony Ericsson are considering bringing on the Android system to their own phones.
