Apple has warned its customers that the amount of static electricity that gathers within iPhone and iPod earphones may deliver a small shock to users.
The company has posted a warning on its support site about the potential buildup of electricity, saying earphones left in very dry areas are prone to delivering the quick shocks.
“It’s possible to receive a small and quick electrical (static) shock from your earbuds while listening to iPod or iPhone,” it said on the site.
“This condition is not limited to Apple hardware, and static can potentially build up on almost any hardware and could be discharged using any brand of earbuds.”
The company suggested using clothing made of natural fabrics, keeping earphones away from windy areas, and refraining from constantly removing iPod devices from pockets.
