US tech company Fitbit has launched its namesake product, a wireless device that gathers and collates statistics on users’ movement, sleep length and quality, calories eaten and burned.
The Fitbit is smaller than a human finger, clips onto users’ clothing and can be worn 24 hours a day. Once data is gathered, it collates the statistics into graphs and charts that give short- and long-term look at users’ health habits.
Because the device is wireless, it synchronises information into your computer through a plug-in base station, which activates whenever you come within three meters of your computer.
The Fitbit, which appeared in SmartCompany’s top gadgets for 2009 list, costs US$99.
