The chairman of Sydney-based property developer Capital Globe Australian has been found murdered in Pakistan, apparently after a dispute with business rivals.
According to reports in Pakistani newspaper the Daily Star, Pakistani Australian developer Shakhil Haque and his business associate Charles Young, were found dead in a hotel in Islamabad late last week.
Investigators told the Daily Star that the pair had been drugged before being shot dead and said the murders appeared to be triggered by a business dispute.
According to Capital Globe’s website, the company has several property developments underway, including the $100 million Cairns Global Tower, a residential and hotel project in Cairns.
It also has two apartment projects near Bondi listed as “upcoming developments”.
Capital Globe chief executive Rob Duff has confirmed the deaths but would not comment on what business the men were doing in Pakistan.
According to the Daily Star, the bodies were released to a lawyer for Capital Globe.
The parent company of Capital Globe is based in Hong Kong and has a range of interests including food, beverages, shipping and logistics.
