Tech giant Apple has sued Motorola saying its Droid smartphone infringes on three different iPhone patents.
It comes after Motorola launched legal action against Apple in a Delaware court just weeks ago for allegedly infringing its patents. Several players in the smartphone market currently have lawsuits pending over the huge number of different patents being used in models, with companies accusing each other of infringements.
“Motorola’s infringing activities have caused and will continue to cause Apple irreparable harm, for which it has no adequate remedy at law, unless Motorola’s infringing activities are enjoined,” Apple said in its filing with the US District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin.
Motorola said in a statement to Reuters that it will defend itself in court.
“Motorola has a leading intellectual property portfolio, one of the strongest in the industry, and we intend to vigorously defend ourselves in this matter,” it said.
