Technology investor Domenic Carosa has purchased another asset from the administrators of collapsed digital media company Destra.
Carosa’s Dominet Digital Corporation purchased entertainment website TheScene.com.au from Destra’s administrators for an undisclosed sum. Late last year Carosa bought music site MP3.com.au from Destra.
Carosa founded Destra in 2000 and resigned as managing director in April 2008, just seven months before the company was placed into administration with debts of more than $30 million.
Carosa, who is currently in Thailand, could not be contacted this morning. But he said in a statement that the acquisition continued Dominet’s drive to acquire sites that had strong communities of X and Y-Generation users.
“The acquisitions are part of Dominet’s strategy to acquire consumer focused entertainment websites. We believe these sites offer an excellent environment for advertisers, in addition to the revenue generating potential from digital music downloads.”
Carosa says he is also in the final stages of getting control of an investment vehicle the Future Capital Development Fund, which will be used for other internet investments.
