Overcoming neighbourhood objections, filming production began last October with the auction signs up out front of the four The Block All Stars cottage offerings around mid-February. It was hosted by Scott Cam who was going through his own property decisions.
The four couples to star in The Block: All Stars season hark back to Adelaide’s Phil and Amity (2003), then Sydney’s Mark and Duncan (2010), Melbourne’s Josh and Jenna (2011), and Melbourne’s Dan and Dani (2012).
The couples enovated four run-down cottages at 6-12 Tasman Street, Bondi – a few kilometres from the near beachside location of the first season at 67 Roscoe Street, Bondi Beach almost 10 years ago. Its location is a little more suburban than beachy.
The four semi-detached cottages were bought by the television production company in November 2011 at an undisclosed price. Red tape that didn’t exist during the first series – such as filming permission – delayed the application approval. which was initially lodged in February 2012. Permission was obtained from Waverley Council last September.
Nine is expected to announce a second season with new contestant couples to air in later in 2013, in a South Melbourne location.
