Wesfarmers MD Richard Goyder has flagged combining the Bunnings stores and Officeworks outlets in the same location to improve performance.

Goyder said Wesfarmers also planned to increase the number of Kmart stores in operation.

Meanwhile, Goyder said a review of the Coles operations, which include Liquorland, Vintage Cellars, 1st Choice Liquor and 85 hotels, was underway.

Wesfarmers this week announced a $2.5 billion rights issue to refinance the Coles Group acquisition debt.
