Passion is a vital element to your success in business. Passion is also highly contagious, making it a key factor in how you influence others.

Let’s take some time out to measure your passion on the passion-meter. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the highest ? rate your level of passion towards your role over the past month?

Got a number? Now recall a time when you were the most passionate? Take yourself back to a time and place when your passion-meter was way up the scale, say an 8 or above? What were you doing? Where were you? Why were you so aroused? What was it that unlocked so much passion in you?

And then ask yourself, what’s stopping you from being in that loved up place now?

Often people mistakenly judge a lack of results for a lack of passion. In fact, the passion is still in there but its lying in a dark and dormant state until a certain level of success is realised. Don’t fall into this trap, be sure to work hard to unlock your passion even when you’re not getting the desired results. This mindset is essential in maintaining your motivation and sticking long enough to keep growing in confidence and competence.

Maybe you’re just not passionate about what you’re selling and a pay packet is the only reason you’re still doing it ? in that case, re-evaluate your situation and take that as a cue to move on or try something else that really turns you on.

Sometimes life throws us things that demotivate us, as such our passion-meter drops, which makes sense, just don’t resign to it, keep on fighting! Focus on things you’re passionate about. Equally important is to surround yourself with passionate people; you can then feed off each other’s energy. Passion is highly contagious so offer your passion to others when they are flat, and look for passion in others when you are down.

Passion is energy, just as it is a mindset. If you want to maintain a high level of passion you’re health is also a key ingredient. Stay healthy and focused on the end game.
