Accommodation website Stayz is trying its hand once again at viral marketing, revealing this afternoon it will offer stressed-out Christmas shoppers the chance to sleep over inside a Westfield shopping centre for $1.
In September, Stayz hit the headlines when it created a rental listing for Kirribilli House on its website, after Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull revealed he and wife Lucy Turnbull would not live in the prime ministerial residence.
Starting next Tuesday, December 15, Stayz will take bookings for a pre-Christmas sleepover in Westfield Bondi Junction in Sydney.
The listing for the rental, which will be open for one hour on Tuesday, boasts “panoramic views of Australia’s finest fashion, beauty and lifestyle retail destinations” as well as the “ultimate walk-in wardrobe: hundreds of shops on your doorstep, literally”.
Stayz will also be offering the lucky family – the accommodation will sleep four people – access to David Jones before the store opens, a shopping voucher, a family cinema pass, a “dining experience” and a personal shopper.
“The lead-up to Christmas, and particularly Christmas shopping, seems to be the most stressful [time] so we decided to do something about it,” Stayz marketing director David Dunston said.
“We’ve created a whole holiday rental inside Westfield Bondi Junction to help take the stress out of Christmas.
“It has all the bells and whistles of our holiday rentals, with views, space, beautiful decor plus early access to the shops to beat the crowds, which is sure to create a Christmas to remember.”
