Coke asked customers to vote for their preferred ending online, signalling a shift towards social media interaction with Super Bowl ads.

Oreo

Fresh from its television ad, Oreo got cracking with this picture during the blackout. It was retweeted tens of thousands of times – which means one of the best marketing efforts of the day didn’t even cost a cent.

Washing detergent Tide did the same thing – but like Oreo, was fast enough to make an impact.

The fashion brand utilised the new Twitter video service, Vine, to send out some blackout-related tweets as quickly as they could. Speed was key yesterday, and Calvin Klein managed to get even a mere mention of the blackout right away.
