One of the most important signs that the holidays are here is through smell. From freshly baked cookies to the aroma of a beloved family recipe hanging in the air — scent plays a very important and emotional role in our day-to-day lives.

So my SmartCompany Holiday Gift Guide pick for 2024 is Light & Glo Designs — a business manufacturing boutique fragrance products right here in Melbourne’s West.
Since 2015, Suji and her co-founder and husband Jeeva Sanjeevan have been pursuing their “passion for exploring scents and distilling aromas” to build a multi-award-winning business. In 2020, the duo went on to create a second operational arm named BrandScent, which boasts an impressive lineup of clients, including American Express, Mimosa Homes, Chandon, and Arnott’s.
BrandScent creates sensory branding crafting to create “memorable brand associations that transform consumer experiences and redefine the experience economy,” Suji previously told SmartCompany.
The founders also went on to pitch their business on Shark Tank Australia in 2023. Their pitch sparked a bidding war amongst the Sharks. King Kong founder Sabri Suby, Oodie founder Davie Fogarty and Shark Tank veteran Robert Herjavec all offered the founders $150,000 for a 25% stake in the business.
Finally, Herjavec upped the ante with a $175,000 investment offer, which the founders accepted.
