Power Players can sense when a tidal wave of cynicism is about to flow over them. When this happens they get out of the way and look for a new point of view.
They know that unless they keep their eyes fresh, they will fall into that bottomless pit of darkness and barely make it out. Power Players do whatever it takes to see it with fresh eyes. This is incredibly hard when the default position is staid.
Great Power Players have a whole list of things they do to mix it up. It’s the metaphorical “standing on top of a desk and seeing things from another point of view” in order to throw them off the spiral of boring and unoriginal and unadventurous.
Some of these tricks include taking the day off and doing zero or getting somebody else who has nothing to do with the problem to take a swing at fixing it.
