Dear Aunty B,
I am an aspiring entrepreneur who finds many of your stories inspiring. I have a big question for you. What is it that makes entrepreneurs different from everyone else?
Ryan,
GC
Dear Ryan,
Thanks for that. No, really! Just what I needed on Friday night as I sit here looking at our empty office with everyone off enjoying their Friday night festivities.
And who says I can only have one? I might have two things to share with you.
Apart from all being slightly nuts, I think the one thing that makes us different is that we look ahead. And when we look ahead we see things stuck in our way. Sometimes they are major barriers; sometimes they are things to trip us up.
And, sometimes, it’s a bloody fog and you can’t see your hand in front of your face. That’s when it’s so hard the non-nutters give up. But not us.
We keep at it: Doggedly, persistently, obstinately. Stupidly in some cases. If we can’t blast our way through the barrier, we might try rolling it out of our way. If we trip up, we pick ourselves up, brush ourselves down, and comfort ourselves that all mistakes are really a GREAT opportunity to learn something. And when we can’t see in front of our noses, and who can at the moment, then what do we do? We don’t stand around blindly waiting for the fog to lift. We change direction.
So that, Ryan, is the answer to your question. Entrepreneurs keep going.
Be smart,
Your Aunty B
