Born on Sydney’s northern beaches, WOWCOW is Australia’s first super-chilled yogurt and dessert lounge.

The business prides itself on the quality and taste of its products, coupled with an ethos based on “the highest level of service, cleanliness, innovation and having fun”.

Harwin says he identified a unique market in a country that was new to him, having recently moved from California. This proved to be a challenge.

“Not only did I have to settle into a new culture and environment, I also took on starting up a business and establishing a brand,” he says.

Despite his humble beginnings as a fish out of water, Harwin has led the business from strength to strength.

“WOWCOW is now loved by locals and celebrities, and is attracting customers from afar. It is a health-conscious concept and our products reflect this. We’re serving a healthy alternative to ice cream and gelato,” he says.

“There is a growing need in this country for people to be proactive about health and fitness, and we are offering all of this in a fun, comfortable, friendly dessert lounge environment.”

In addition to its health-conscious offering, Harwin attributes the company’s success to its enduring focus on customer service.

“Our primary focus is our customers. We listen to their needs and train our staff to meet their expectations. Our business focuses heavily on the initial and ongoing training of our staff.”

“WOWCOW believes in thinking global and acting local, supporting community and providing a memorable experience for each and every customer it serves.”

Harwin says the best part of starting his own business was the satisfaction of seeing his dream come to fruition. His tips for other entrepreneurs?

“Listen to your customers, adapt, persevere and have a clear vision,” he says.
