Businesses looking to a decent blogging platform are increasingly flocking to Tumblr, and it’s easy to see why.
Tumblr allows you to post text, images, videos and links into a short-form blog, which you can quickly update and share. Crudely speaking, it’s like a more in-depth version of Twitter.
There are disadvantages of using Tumblr – it is heavily skewed towards younger people, which may not be your target market, you can’t format it as easily as, say, a WordPress site and you aren’t able to host it on your site.
However, for a quick and nimble way to get word out about your start-up, you can do a lot worse than Tumblr.
So, how do you get started? It’s relatively simple. Go to www.tumblr.com and provide your email, password and your favoured URL, which will be in the format of yourname.tumblr.com.
You can then click on the settings section, select “customise your blog”. This will allow you to add information about your business and link it to your analytics. When you are finished, click save and close.
You are now ready to start posting but, before you do, it’s worth clicking on the “explore” button to see what your competitors, customers and partners are doing on Tumblr.
