TaskmasterIt’s the end of the week. Thank goodness for that. Your brain is starting to malfunction, your staff are looking glassy eyed and everyone is watching the clock.

In many offices I have seen, Friday afternoon is a write-off – there’s more time spent doing the footy tips than doing any actual work.

So why not just accept this, and make the best of the situation.

One idea is to set up a barbecue each Friday afternoon from about 12:30pm onwards. Tell your staff there will be sausages in bread provided, a few non-alcoholic drinks and even a spot of salad if you are so inclined.

Everyone can gather for a few hours, talk about the week just gone and the way ahead, and enjoy a cheap lunch on the boss.

But here’s a great twist – tell your customers about the barbie. And further, make it clear that there is a barbie every week and they are welcome to drop in. Make it an event that’s known in the industry – a bit of a regular gathering where all are welcome.

Hopefully, a few customers will take you up on the offer. Then your staff can turn a friendly barbecue into a networking/sales event.

All for the cost of a few snags!
