Tech Trick on Google ChromeThe Google Chrome browser is becoming increasingly popular as an alternative to both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox, but there are many ways users can make the most of this browser they might not know about.

Part of Chrome’s attraction is that it has a fairly light user interface, disguising it as a simple browser. But a few tricks can improve your usage:

  • You can perform calculations in the browsing bar. Type in a simple maths problem and the drop-down box will display the answer.
  • You can view your history using the browsing bar, but you can also find previous downloads by typing chrome://downloads and chrome://bookmarks
  • You can make your bookmark bar icons-only to fit more in. Go to chrome://bookmarks, right click on the individual bookmark and edit it to delete the text.
  • If you’re going to be using a particular tab during the day more often, then you can right click and pin it to the bar. It will shrink, giving you more room for other tabs.
