Shark-Tank-Masterchef mashup coming to Aussie TV screens, featuring Janine Allis and Gordon Ramsay

On Sunday evening, Boost Juice founder and former Shark Tank Australia investor Janine Allis shared a clip of her latest project on LinkedIn, revealing she has joined forces with Gordon Ramsay in a new local version of Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars.
The trailer shows founders pitching to both Allis and Ramsay, who are looking to invest $250,000 in the country’s most innovative food and drink ideas on the new show for the 9network.
“This could be revolutionary,” says Ramsay in response to one of the pitches.
But this isn’t just a food version of Shark Tank; according to 9network, “contestants will pitch their concept to win a spot in the competition, before surviving high-pressure challenges and intense grilling from two reigning food stars, determined to see if they’ve got the raw ingredients to become Food Stars”. This will mean proving “they have what it takes when it comes to service, marketing, branding and event management”.
For SmartCompany readers, there are some familiar faces pitching to the dynamic duo: from edible coffee cup brand Good Edi to hot sauce brand Bunsters.
Both Allis and Ramsay are no strangers to television screens. Allis appeared in the first four seasons of Shark Tank, as well as The Celebrity Apprentice Australia and the sixth season of Australian Survivor. Ramsay’s global profile was cemented by his time on Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares and Hell’s Kitchen, as well as regular appearances on Masterchef Australia.
And Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars is already on UK and US television screens.
With the Shark-Tank-Masterchef mashup “coming soon” to Australian screens, according to Allis, we’ll certainly be tuning in. It looks like it has all the ingredients needed for success.
