The workers at the zinc processing plant simply couldn’t connect their jobs to the outside world – it was not until the company tendered to supply a zip manufacturer that the workers really “got it”.

It’s a great example of why it is crucial that employees understand where they fit into the bigger picture of your business.

This won’t be hard to do with sales staff, but think about ways to connect admin staff or the production team to your customers.

  • Bring them to customer meetings.
  • Send them out on customer visits.
  • Have samples of stuff produced by your customers around the office.
  • Take your team on an excursion and visit as many customers you can in a day.

The point is to show your staff that what they do each day – from answering the phone to billing – contributes not just to your business, but to the business of your customers.

Get it done – today!
