Guests at the Grace Hotel in Sydney are spoilt for choice – literally. Customers who don’t like their hotel room can now request a new one, with 10 rooms tailored to meet individual guests’ needs.
Dubbed 10Rooms, guests have the option of selecting the décor and style of their room, from the furnishings to the colour scheme and even the pillows they prefer.
The five-star rooms contain three different layouts, while most of the furnishings – such as the dining room set – are able to be swapped if a guest doesn’t like the colour or style.
According to the Grace Hotel’s general manager, the 10Rooms concept is based on the understanding there is a class of travellers who want a more tailored experience.
“10Rooms is unlike any other hotel concept… If a guest goes into the room and the lounge suite, for example, is not to their liking, we can interchange those,” he says.
When guests make a reservation, they are asked what their favourite colour and flavor are, and what type of pillow they prefer.
With many tourism operators struggling to attract customers, anything to get them through the door will almost certainly be welcomed with open arms. Is there an opportunity to offer a tailored service such as 10Rooms?
