Controversy over altered school photos may have raged this week, but the increasing demand for picture-perfect images is one that entrepreneurs should take note of.
Altering images doesn’t even have to wait for post-production. According to Panasonic, its new camera can give you an instant makeover. The Lumin DMC-FX77 includes a built-in Beauty Re-touch mode, which aims to whiten teeth, add colour to cheeks and reduce wrinkles.
Panasonic says the airbrushing software on the camera, which includes a 16 megapixel sensor and 9cm TFT touch screen LC display, will even add makeup and smooth out skin.
Different modes are used to achieve different outcomes. One setting, for example, can clean up skin and teeth, while the camera’s make-up mode offers a choice of colours and tones to apply foundation, blush and even lipstick.
For photographers, particularly those who photograph fashion, family portraits or weddings, this kind of technology opens up doors with regard to touching up impromptu, natural photographs.
As consumers become increasingly accustomed to tweaking images, what other ideas can be developed that allow users to achieve a picture-perfect result?
