Tech TricksEvery so often you may find your computer is running slowly, even though you haven’t installed any new programs.

While there could be any number of reasons for this, one of the best ways to figure this out is to run a disk clean up, which rids the computer of some unnecessary files.

To do this, open the Start Menu, then click on All Programs, then Accessories, and System Tools. There, click on the “Disk Cleanup” option.

There are a number of options there, including the ability to delete downloaded program files, temporary internet files, the recycle bin, and so on.

Be warned – before you delete any of these, consult with your IT manager or at least someone who knows what these all do. You don’t want to inadvertently delete some important files. And always keep back-ups.

Once you determine which files you want to cull, press “okay”, and the job will get underway.
