Thankfully there’s a way to stop this from happening to get your full internet speeds back when you need them.

 

To pause the DropBox syncing, right-click on the DropBox icon in the system tray, and then hit “pause syncing”.

 

That will stop the sync right away, and you can pick it up where you left off later on.
