Most of the time, getting a notification when you get a new email or instant message is handy. However, if you use Android JellyBean and one of your apps is bombarding you with useless updates, there’s a simple way of turning its notifications off.

Just go into the Settings menu, choose Applications, and then Manage Applications.

There you should see a list of all the apps you have installed on your smartphone or tablet. Tap on the app you don’t want to receive notifications for.

On the next screen, on the left-hand side under the “force stop” button, you’ll see a check box with an option reading “Show Notifications”. Just tap this option and the app will no longer annoy you with its notifications.
