Twitter has announced its first commerce product, a buy button which allows its users to make purchases directly within tweets.
The company says the button will be visible to a small percentage of users in the United States, a number that will grow over time.
After tapping the buy button users will get additional product details and be prompted to enter shipping and payment information. Once that has been entered and confirmed, the order information is sent to the merchant for delivery.
The function will be tested with a group of artists, brands and non-profit organisations over the coming weeks.
