Computer manufacturer Dell may be working on a new netbook that ships with Google’s Android operating system.

Software developer Bsquare, which manufactures products for smartphones and mobile devices, released a press release in which it said it will support Adobe technology designed to run on Dell’s Android netbooks.

Dell so far has not responded to the press release, but speculation has been growing that the company is producing products with Google Android.

Such a major manufacturer would give the open-source operating system a massive popularity boost, with the service’s most popular product still the T-Mobile G1.

Netbook shipments are expected to grow by 68.5% from 2008, according iSuppli, with the cheap, stripped-down computers popular during economic turmoil.
