Over 15% of Australian holders of credit and debit cards have been subject to bank fraud within the past five years, according to a new survey from ACI Worldwide.
The survey, which questioned 2,409 people and 310 in Australia, found one in 10 Australians said they have suffered fraud once, 2.58% said they had experienced fraud twice and 1.29% claimed three fraud experiences.
But the survey found that Australia “should see a further decrease in the next three years as most of the cardholder base moves to chip authentication”.
“The international research we have conducted shows that although card fraud trends vary around the world, it is still a persistent problem for banks,” ACI Worldwide vice president David Nussenbaum told ITnews.com.au.
