Vodafone has now put into effect a $500 million upgrade to its 3G network, with the company boasting it can now reach 94% of the country’s population.

The 3G network previously only reached 80% of the population, but the company has worked to extend its coverage to locations in Western Australia, Queensland and Tasmania.

Additionally, the regional 2G network has been given support for EDGE technology, with 2G customers now experiencing an increase in mobile data speeds.

“Vodafone’s great value 3G services are now available to Australians living and working in regional cities and towns, as well as business travellers and holiday-makers who need to stay connected,” VHA chief executive Nigel Dews said in a statement.
